POSTPONED

Our members are our first priority – that’s why we want to keep you up to date on changes to the way we work, how we’re prioritizing your needs and those of our employees, and much more.

I hope you and your families remain safe and healthy as we all continue to deal with COVID-19. We are following “social distancing” requirements, which will necessitate making schedule adjustments to all our upcoming events and meetings. The board is working behind the scenes to keep our great society moving forward, as we adjust to what it means to be working in the middle of this pandemic.

Our Past-Presidents/ Scholarship meeting is canceled, but the board has identified 4 new students who will receive 2020 scholarships. Scholarship letters have been recently mailed out to the new scholarship recipients.

The “Sink or Swim” meeting in June will also be postponed until either later this year (“mini SOS” format) or until June 2021. We are considering a potential virtual format for the 2020 papers, should we postpone until 2021. We want to keep industry professionals up to date on the latest technology trends and innovations in coatings that were to be presented at the 2020 SOS. Please continue to check our website at clevelandcoatingssociety.org for any updates on our CCS flagship symposium.

We would still like to hold our annual golf outing in late summer and our Whing Ding in mid-September. These are both fun CCS social events but are also important for funding our CCS scholarships. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that these events can still happen and should know more in the coming months. Stay safe in these uncertain times.

Randy Krafcik, 2020 CCS president
